In July of 2006, East Penn participated in the National Train Show held as part of the NMRA Convention (Independence Junction) hosted in Philadelphia, PA. The club walked away with top awards in the following modular railroad categories:
First Place Module Contest Individual Entry - South Hills Junction Module by Bob Dietrich
First Place Module Contest Group Entry - O Scale Modular Traction Layout
Module Contest Chairman's Award - Overall East Penn Modular Display
The club's appearance was enhanced at this show by the use of skirting on the HO and O modules and the green club shirts adorned with the EPTC logo worn by the members who operated the layout during the show. Total convention attendance was 21,775!
