Steve Smith

I grew up in the East Oak lane, Germantown and Mt. Airy sections of Philadelphia and rode the subway, trolleys and regional rails growing up all around the city. Iíve been an East Penn Member for about 5 years. I went to my first East Penn Traction meet when I was in high school and was inspired by Jimmy Sparkmanís El layout in the 80ís. I have been involved in model railroading since I got my first electric train set at 8. But before that I was building subways, tunnels, stations and highways out of blocks and cardboard. I designed and built my first model railroad layout on an actual table when I was 13 and over the last 20 something years it turned into an HO scale city with trolleys trains and large stations. My motto is ďI want to build it allĒ. Traction modeling is a challenging section of model railroading where you have to do a lot of scratch building and designing, especially if you want to model the urban scene which I enjoy.
