The Hylands will be running a small N scale layout at the Gaithersburg Model Train Show next to the Golden Spike Artifacts show on Nov. 3rd SUNDAY ONLY. This is one of the prime railroad and transit artifacts shows on the east coast.

This is being run at the Mongtomery County Fairgrounds (Maryland) in Gaithersburg from 9 to 4. All East Penn Members get into both shows for FREE.

All East Penn members have to do is wear either their East Penn Badge or Shirt and stop by the N Scale layout first to say Hi! and more importantly get their hands stamped to go on to the Artifacts show.

Further information for the show can be found at: www.gserr.com.

The Story of the Wogglebug Trolley Nov. 4, 2013 at 7:30 pm
Mike Szilagyi, club member, will talk about the electric trolley that connected Worcester to Norristown and Skippack during 1907-1925, making over a dozen trips a day on tracks that ran along Valley Forge Rd and Skippack Pike. Click here for a flyer for more information. Will be at Farmer's Union Hall, Center Point, Worcester. For related information about this trolley, visit this website Mike created.

Philadelphia Chapter NRHS will be auctioning off some railroadiana material, mostly books, from our Chapter storage site at our meeting on Friday evening, November 15.

This material is from several collections of deceased members who have left things to the Chapter.

We now meet at Drexel University, 121 Randell Hall, which is accessed through the entrance to the venerable Main Hall at 3141 Chestnut Street. There is a handicapped entrance on 32nd Street Walk, on the side of the building. Our meetings now start at 7:00 PM, and the auction will continue until 9:30 PM at the latest. We ask that members bring nothing to sell, as the material we have on hand will more than cover the time period. The public is more than welcome to attend.

Questions may be directed to me at ayrestower@comcast.net or by phone to 215-947-5769. Click here to see a list of some of the material to be sold.

Best Wishes,

R. L. Eastwood, Jr., President
Philadelphia Chapter, NRHS

Peter Ehrlich has released a book, San Francisco's F-Line, the subject of which operates a good number of former Philadelphia, Newark, and San Francisco cars. He says, "This book, five years in the making, consists of 13 chapters and over 500 photos, mostly color, taken by me and many other acclaimed photographers such as Jeff Moreau, Don Jewell, Kevin Sheridan, Jeremy Whiteman, Ira Swett, and Karl Johnson, to name a few. Many early images came from the San Francisco Public Library archives. It has been released in time to help celebrate Muni's 100th Anniversary." The book can be ordered from Trafford Publishing or Amazon. The DVD is also available at the author's website, PDE Photography. (posted 9/18/12)
